| During the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, Swastika continued to remain a symbol of protection from evil and sign of good luck among the peasants. Thus the Hutsuls - mountaniars from Carpathian mountain would paint Swaskika above the doorway to ward as a sign of protection. In addition, many villages in the mountains would also use Swastikas in the church as actual crosses to pray to. Swastika would also be painted on Easter Eggs. Easter Eggs have existed since pagan times, and would be given as symbolic gift during the Spring selebrations. With the introduction of Christianity the decorated eggs became the part of Eastern selebrations, but still were decorated with Swastikas, Trykwers (three branched swastikas), Oak leafs, Sieg and Leben runes. |

| Another relict from the pre-Christian past in Ukraine is the emboroidered shirt. Worn by men and women alike, since the Dark Ages, the shirts would be embroidered with various patterns and signs. In some cases Swastika designs would also be stiched on, along with other symbols. A good example is this embproidered women's shirt from Podilia region in Ukraine - a Swastika pattern goes all around the sleeves along with Odal runes on the bottom. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
